The UM chapter of the NSNA is still thriving under its new leaders. The Spring 2013 Board, led by Co-Presidents Maria Francis and Tiffany Ojea, is enthusiastic about developing the future vision and programming of the UM NSNA. Says Francis, “My goal for the NSNA is to provide opportunities for nursing students to give back to the community, put their nursing skills into practice, and meet each other as well as alumni. NSNA membership is beneficial to any student hoping to become an active part of the health care community. Although I’m graduating this year, I’m confident that our board is creating a great foundation for service events and networking opportunities in upcoming years.”
The UM NSNA just conducted a donation drive through “Hope in Miami Beach”, a non-profit faith-based organization that aims to reduce the number of homeless people in Miami Beach. They collected clothing, shoes, luggage, backpacks, and blankets, which were donated to Miami Beach’s homeless population.
