Scholarships
AACN Professional Advancement Scholarship Nurse Managers who want to earn bachelors' or masters' of science in nursing degrees should apply for this program. Beginning in 2009, scholarship applicants will submit an individual professional development plan as the basis for their request. Applicants will assess their knowledge and skill gaps, then describe the desired learning outcomes and how they will evaluate their success.
AfterCollege/AACN Scholarship The AACN/AfterCollege Scholarships support students who are seeking a baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree in nursing. Eight $2,500 scholarships will be awarded throughout the year.
The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation (AANP Foundation) The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation (AANP Foundation) Scholarship & Grant Program is pleased to announce its 2011 offerings, available exclusively to AANP members. Please visit www.aanpfoundation.org for complete availability information, eligibility requirements, and application materials. The deadline to submit an application is October 24, 2011.
American Assembly for Men in Nursing Scholarship Scholarships for male nursing students administered by Johnson & Johnson.
Army Nurse Corps Association Captain Joshua M. McClimans, an 2012 Memorial Scholarship Program The Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) Scholarship Program for baccalaureate or higher degree nursing and anesthesia students. In 2012, ANCA will be selecting up to 15 students to receive $3,000 scholarships.
To be eligible, applicants should meet one of the following criteria:
  • Nursing or anesthesia students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program not funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Nursing or anesthesia students who have previously served in a component of the US Army.
  • Army Nurse Corps officers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate nursing or nurse anesthesia program not funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Army enlisted soldiers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program not funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Nursing or anesthesia students whose parent(s), spouse and/or children are or have served in a component of the US Army.

For 2012, the scholarship program is named in memory of Captain Joshua M. McClimans, a member of the United States Army Reserve who, in April 2011, gave his life for his country during his deployment to Afghanistan. He was a native of Jamestown, PA and a graduate of the University of Akron School of Nursing in Ohio.

Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program The 2010 scholarship is named in honor of Captain Gussie M. Jones, AN, who died of non-battle related causes in Iraq. She was the first African-American Army Nurse to die while assigned to a theater of operations. The success of the student's application for the $3,000.00 scholarship will depend equally on the application and the school's input concerning the school and student.

BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship The BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship runs two times a year, awarding $1000 for a best essay entry and $500 for the runnerup. Winners will be selected based on the creativity, focus, overall thoughtfulness, accuracy, and practical value of responses to essay questions. The questions ask students about how they chose nursing, their experiences as a nursing student, and their suggestions for prospective nurses. Deadlines for submission are November 1st and March 1st.
Dade Community Foundation Jennet Colliflower Keys Scholarship This scholarship seeks to assist those who will dedicate their lives to caring for the health of children. Specifically, the fund provides scholarships to students in their junior or senior year of an undergraduate nursing degree, who are Florida residents and enrolled full-time in a Florida public or private university.
FEUNAA Scholarship The Far Eastern University Nursing Alumni Association (FEUNAA), Florida Chapter, Inc. invites senior nursing students enrolled in an Associate or Baccalaureate Nursing Program to apply for a scholorship award of $500.
Florida Navy Nurse Corps Association The Florida Navy Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Committee has established a fund to award scholarships to deserving nursing students and/or Registered Nurses to continue their studies for a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing. The amount of the award will be $1,000. At this time we anticipate awarding one scholarship for 2012.
Florida Nurses Foundation Scholarship and Research Grants The Florida Nurses Foundation exists to promote nursing and delivery of healthcare through the advancement of research, education and practice. Each year, funds are provided to registered nurses and students for scholarships and research grants.
HCSF Scholarship Award The Health Council of South Florida (HCSF) established an Annual Scholarship Award in 2009 to address the healthcare professional shortage in our community. A portion of the proceeds from the HCSF Annual Meeting will help raise funds to enable the HCSF to carry on its mission in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties and contribute to the Scholarship Fund.

HRSA Scholarship Program Graduate scholarships for family nurse practitioner, nurse midwifery, and physician assistant students administered by the U.S Health Resources Services Administration.
HRSA Nursing Scholarship The Health Resources and Services Administration announced that it is now accepting applications for the Nursing Scholarship Program. The deadline for applications is May 8, 2012, at 5pm ET. The NSP provides scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum 2-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible health care facility located in a primary care or mental health Professional Shortage Area.
Kaiser Family Foundation Barbara Jordan Health PolicyScholars Program Nine-week opportunity for college seniors and recent college graduates interested in racial and health disparities to obtain experience in the policy-making process in Washington, D.C.
Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine Nursing Scholars Program Through its Nursing Scholarship Program, the Miller School provides full tuition plus a stipend for books for students in the Accelerated BSN program. Students selected to receive scholarships commit to full-time employment at the UHealth-Miller School of Medicine Hospital System for a consecutive thirty-six month period following their graduation.
March of Dimes Graduate Nursing Scholarship To recognize and promote excellence in nursing care of mothers and babies, the March of Dimes offers several $5,000 scholarships annually to registered nurses enrolled in graduate programs of maternal-child nursing.
Miami Springs Woman's Club Lena Pearl Wheeler Nursing Scholarship Scholarship for non-traditional students who have overcome life challenges administered by the Miami Springs Woman's Club.
National Association Of Hispanic Nurses Scholorship The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) is offering $40,000 in scholarships to bilingual/bicultural students pursuing careers in the nursing field. The scholarships, funded by United Health Foundation, are part of the Avanzamos con Ayuda de United Health Foundation (We Advance with Support by United Health Foundation) program aimed at increasing the number of qualified, bilingual/bicultural Hispanic student nurses
National Black Nursing Association Scholarships Scholarships for Black and African-American nursing students administered by the National Back Nurses’ Association.  Applicants must be members of the local chapter to qualify.
NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program Service undergraduate scholarships for disadvantaged individuals interested in careers in biomedical health research administered by the National Institutes of Health.
Nurse Practitioner Council of Palm Beach County – FNP Students The Nurse Practitioner Council of Palm Beach County would like to take this opportunity to announce its semi-annual Scholarship Award. Current scholarship deadline for this time of year is underway. Each year, the Council provides scholarship monies to one student who demonstrates an active enrollment in a Nurse Practitioner Program. The monetary award may be used for books, tuition, or other school related expenses.
NPHF/AstraZeneca Diversity Scholarships Program Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF) awards three (3) scholarships to minority Nurse Practitioner graduate students.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in the U.S. and abroad. Senior COSTEP: Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program at the Federal Bureau of the Prisons Clinical opportunity to work with the nation's inmate population. The program provides more than $3,000 per month for academic training.
State Farm Companies Hispanic Scholarship Fund State Farm Companies Foundation provides $2,500 scholarships to 20 Hispanic college students every year through its relationship with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
Sheridan Regional Allied Health Scholarships Sheridan Healthcare, Inc., a hospital-based, multispecialty practice management company based in Sunrise that is the largest anesthesia services provider in the country, has launched the Sheridan Regional Allied Health Scholarships offering two individual $10,000 scholarships for student registered nurse anesthetists enrolled in specific programs in South Florida. TENET Scholarship Program Tenet Healthcare Foundation has established a healthcare scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue education in college or vocational programs.  Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at selected accredited colleges and universities.

This year, we’re proud to award $5,000 – $10,000 scholarships totaling $250,000 to forty outstanding students based on leadership qualities and academic performance.
University of Miami ARMY ROTC ROTC provides you with excellent leadership training and the foundation needed for future military or civilian success.  Full tuition is paid if student qualifies. All UM cadets are assured a grant amounting up to 25% of UM tuition.  Available for one, two, three, and four year terms for all academic majors.  $1200 annual textbook allowance and monthly non-taxable $300-$500 stipend depending on year in program.
University of Miami Women's Guild Scholarship, Miami-Dade County Chapter Women, age 22 or over, whose previous academic achievement has been above average and whose undergraduate studies have been interrupted or postponed for one year or more due to family, career, monetary or other personal reasons are eligible for this scholorship. Additionally, applicants must be currently accepted to or enrolled in a degree-seeking program the University of Miami, be enrolled at least 9 credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Applicants must be residents of Miami-Dade County prior to attending the University of Miami.
