A message from Dean Nilda (“Nena”) Peragallo Montano
Welcome to the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. You are beginning your education at an amazing time. Healthcare reform and a rapidly aging population are transforming our nation’s health care delivery system. The education you receive here will prepare you to meet these challenges head on as you enter the work environment or graduate school a few years from now.
Our school has a long history of setting the standard of excellence in health care education. This year we mark 65 years of teaching, learning, scientific discovery and service to the South Florida community and beyond. I couldn’t be prouder of the accomplishments that our excellent faculty, staff but most importantly you, our students, have made possible during this time.
As you embark on this new chapter as a UM student, I encourage you to balance your academic pursuits with involvement in campus life. Our student organizations offer diverse activities where students can meet each other to share interests, participate in community service, and network with peers and future colleagues. At our school, , you will also have the opportunity to visit such places as Taiwan, Spain, Chile, Mexico, Haiti, Australia, Brazil and the Dominican Republic, via our international exchange program.
Remember to stay safe, study hard, and have fun while you are here on our beautiful campus and in vibrant South Florida. Contact me at anytime with your questions or concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Congratulations on having joined the next generation of healthcare leaders educated at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies.
