Welcome to the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies Giving webpage. As a world-class center for excellence in nursing and healthcare education, the School of Nursing and Health Studies is committed to attracting outstanding students and exceptional educators, clinicians and researchers. Nationally renowned educators and research scholars recognized for decades of experience and strategic research provide a nurturing learning environment for the future healthcare workforce.

The importance of preparing our students for professional healthcare careers is reiterated in the Executive Summary of the Post-Secondary Success Strategy of The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,

“. . .Education is the great equalizer. It enriches our lives, informs our choices, and prepares us for meaningful employment and to contribute to the communities in which we live. Enrolling young adults in college is not enough. We must work to increase the number of students who finish college. The payoff doesn’t come with young adults simply enrolling in college. The payoff comes when students get postsecondary degrees that help them get jobs with family wages. . . .”

Contributions made to the School of Nursing and Health Studies deliver vital support for student scholarships as well as emerging needs. Your investment in the School of Nursing and Health Studies ensures our ability to respond quickly as we provide our students the best healthcare education in the world – regardless of their financial situation – and sustains research that will continue to investigate health issues and health disparities that plague our society. The training future professionals obtain at our top-rated facilities ensures that our loved ones will receive the best patient care possible.

The M. Christine Schwartz Center for Nursing Education is the new home of the School of Nursing and Health Studies. The completion of this state-of-the-art, 58,000 square foot building was achieved through the generous gifts of many individuals, corporations, foundations and grants. Your continued participation will help us build upon our impressive 60-year record of achievement, as we work toward our future goals of student recruitment, retention and education of the most talented nurse educators and nurse scientists anywhere in the country.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your loyalty, friendship and ongoing generosity. Looking ahead, I know our combined efforts will ensure a brilliant future for our students, faculty and alumni of the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies.

Warm regards,

Nilda (Nena) P. Peragallo Montano, DrPH, RN, FAAN
