The Pan American Network of Nursing and Midwifery Collaborating Centers (PANMCC, pronounced “PAN-mack”) is composed of the WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing Human Resources Development and Patient Safety based in the Americas, including the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. Whereas participation in the Global Network fosters a global perspective, our membership in PANMCC promotes a more regular dialogue with our nearest neighbors. Most recently the members of PANMCC have embarked on a shared effort to increase visibility of the WHO CC’s contributions to the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization. The plan is to documentiand disseminate the CC’s global initiatives, with the aim of influencing policy and providing evidence of the practical value of PANMCC’s collaborative work. Our Collaborating Centre is proud to represent the thematic area of patient safety in this multi-themed project.
The PANMCC Vision:
“The PANMCC network will be recognized as a reflection of the diversity of nurses and midwives in the region to promote the contributions of nursing and midwifery. PANMCC will serve as a resource for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and health systems development in order to further ‘Health for All’ through the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.”
Dean Peragallo serves as the Treasurer for PANMCC and is a member of its Executive Committee. She officially represents the SONHS WHO Collaborating Center at the PANMCC Annual Meetings.
