In September 2008, the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies was designated a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Nursing Human Resources Development and Patient Safety. In September of 2012 this prestigious recognition was renweed by the WHO for another 4 years. The School’s WHO Centre initiatives promote dialogue and the mutual exchange of healthcare knowledge with its international neighbors, with a special emphasis on patient safety education, curriculum and workforce development and multi-Center research projects in critical regions of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our goals for the 2012-2016 re-designation cycle are to collaborate with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) to:
