The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies is home to the Center of Excellence for Health Disparities Research (El Centro) and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Human Resources Development and Patient Safety. These centers provide exceptional opportunities for faculty and students to conduct research and participate in global partnerships.

In September 2008, the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies was designated a WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Human Resources and Patient Safety. As one of just 11 nursing-related collaborating centers in the United States, the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) is proud to hold this elite designation. The research and educational activities of the Center are designed to support the WHO goal of “Health for All,” with a particular emphasis on the areas of patient safety and nursing human resources.
