The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico, a major seaport on the Gulf of Mexico, hosts the school’s Mexico mini-mester each year. Here students join with faculty to provide health assessments, immunizations and screenings and participate in preventative and educational activities for children and families. In addition to working with local hospitals, students also visit regional clinics to learn about the provision of health care in environments with limited resources.
