Admission is on a rolling basis until May 15th for each fall semester. However, to be considered for financial support, complete applications (including GRE scores) should be received no later than February 1st.
U.S. citizens and residents should complete the online FAFSA form at www.fafsa.ed.gov to be considered for all financial assistance including federal loans.
Admission to the PhD program is selective due to the rigorous nature of the program. The primary characteristic of the applicant is that he or she wants to be a researcher and has an interest in the research currently in progress at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies.
The typical student entering the PhD program exceeds the University of Miami’s minimum academic admission requirements; GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 for the junior and senior years are required. In addition, other admission considerations are strong letters of recommendation attesting to the student’s disposition towards scholarship, graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, goals statement and a successful personal interview by the school’s faculty.
Please note that student admissions are conducted on a case by case basis and the faculty of the School of Nursing and Health Studies reserves the right to waive any requirement or request additional information from applicants.
