The School of Nursing & Health Studies (SONHS) is offering a minor in Public Health; this minor will be contained under the Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS). Baccalaureate education under the BSHS provides the foundation for further education in specialized health professional fields. Pre-professional tracks include Pre-physical Therapy, Pre-pharmacy, Pre-forensics, Health Science/Business Administration and Health Science General. The Public Health minor will have three required core courses to include: Introduction to Public Health, Introduction Epidemiology, and Health & Environment. The fourth course in the minor is to be an elective from existing courses including: HCS/NUR 305 Health Disparities, HCS/NUR 313 Global Health Disparities, HCS/NUR 487 International Health or HST 536 Health Care Crisis. Future plans include development of an articulated honors BS/MPH program in cooperation with the UM Miller School’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health.
