The El Centro Research Training & Education Core coordinates all research activities that expose and engage students in current and ongoing SONHS research projects. El Centro offers research opportunities through multiple mechanisms to qualified students who are considering a possible career in Health Disparities research.
Our program targets, but is not limited to, racially and ethnically diverse students in their sophomore and junior undergraduate years, all SONHS graduate students and SONHS recent graduates (less than a year since graduation).
The purpose of the program is:
1) to encourage students to consider the possibility of a career in health disparities research; and
2) to build student competency in conducting community based, interdisciplinary, and responsible health disparities research
