Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.)
|
|
S.A.R.T. is a telephone response line for University of Miami
students administered by the Counseling
Center. During the regular academic year if you have been
sexually battered, assaulted, or molested, you can talk to a trained
volunteer about it, anonymously and from the privacy of your
telephone. We are available during the regular academic year, 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. Our service is available to men as well as
women. |

The S.A.R.T. program began in 1992 to provide students with a way to talk about these issues anonymously, from the privacy of a telephone. It is administered by the Student Counseling Center. Dr. Carolyn Eberhardt, Counseling Center psychologist, coordinates the program. She arranges the screening of volunteers, trains them to handle calls, and provides ongoing consultation and supervision.
S.A.R.T. advocates (the people who answer the hotline) are faculty, staff and graduate student volunteers from the University community. The service is available to men and women, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
S.A.R.T. also has an education/prevention program. Volunteers will come to speak to your group, free of charge, about rape facts, statistics, prevention, and about sexual communication. Please contact the Counseling Center (305)284-5511 should you wish to schedule a program. |
