Thank you for registering for Walking Canes. Many of you have already received this email, however some have not.
Due to the poor weather in the Northeast, there was a delay in the processing and shipment of our pedometers. Therefore, packet pick-up will not begin until Tuesday, January 28th at 12pm. You can pick-up your packets at the Gables and Medical Campus Wellness Centers. The remaining days/times will remain the same.

Online registration for the Walking Canes program is January 21-24. From January 27-31 you can register in person at the Coral Gables Wellness Enrichment Suite from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. or the Medical Campus Wellness Center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
When you pick up your pedometer packet, you must pay the $10 registration fee and submit a completed registration/waiver form and a brief participant activity readiness questionnaire. At that time you will also have the option to get weighed.
The Walking Canes 10-K-A-Day Program is open to all University of Miami faculty and staff on the Coral Gables, Medical and RSMAS Campuses. You do not have to be a Herbert or Medical Wellness Center member to participate. Most sedentary people in the United States take less than 5,000 steps per day.
