It takes more than daily physical activity to maintain good health. Wellness also includes intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, occupational, and global dimensions of well-being. The key to leading a healthy lifestyle is supporting and maintaining a balance between these various dimensions. This is why the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center offers a wide variety of classes, such as meditation, healthy cooking, smoking cessation and nutrition education, to help you meet your wellness needs and goals.
Fitness programs are led by nationally certified and experienced staff, and are sure to meet your needs.
The Herbert Wellness Center operates as a satellite center of the University of Miami’s Center for Research in Medical Education. The emergency cardiovascular care (ECC) courses offered by the HWC are conducted in affiliation with the American Heart Association. ECC courses include Family and Friends CPR, Heartsaver CPR & AED, Heartsaver First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP). Many of these are designed for lay persons who may or may not have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Upon successful completion of an ECC course, a 2-year American Heart Association card will be issued (excludes Family and Friends CPR).
On a limited basis, the Herbert Wellness Center also provides American Red Cross lifeguard certification training.
