The Herbert Wellness Center is a student-run facility and therefore one of the largest student employers on the Coral Gables campus. Positions available include everything from Front Desk assistant to lifeguard. See a listing of student employment positions here. Student employees gain real-life work experiences, meet a variety of interesting people, and have the opportunity for advancement within the department.
Federal Work Study and Miami Commitment students are given preference on jobs. Job positions that require specific skills and certifications are evaluated individually to determine starting salary. Original certifications must be provided at time of application. Applications are available online (see below) or on the second floor, Room 210, of the Wellness Center.

Student Employee Application
The Department of Wellness and Recreation will have a self directed training program for student employees who wish to become supervisors within their respective areas. An employee is eligible after three consecutive months of employment. At that time, the employee must send a t-clock message to PAYROLL informing them of their interest to be included in the training program. The employee has two months to complete the self directed training on Blackboard. Training consists of a series of PowerPoint presentations on various aspects of supervisor responsibilities followed by an on-line assessment. Upon completion , the employee will meet with Mr. Parsons and their professional supervisor to be interviewed for the position. Enrollment does not guarantee the student will be promoted to a supervisory role.
