A resident assistant is a full-time undergraduate student who lives and works with students, staff, and faculty to facilitate a learning environment in the University Village. They serve as a role model and a resource person, contributing positively to the intellectual, social, academic, and cultural development of students. Learn more about each RA below.

Johnny Diaz

Hi everyone! My name is Johnny Diaz aand I'm a senior from just outside Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I'm a Legal Studies major in the School of Business with minors in Music, Modern Languages, and Motion Pictures. Before becoming an RA, I worked as an AF in Hecht for two years. I also serve as the chair of the SG Campus Relations Advisory Board, as a P100 tour guide, and a member of the Cinematic Arts Commission. I'm super excited for my first year as an RA and my first year in the UV!

Mariah Forde

Hello UV! My name is Mariah Forde and I am the RA in Building 2! This is my second year as an RA and I am so excited to get the year started! I am from Germantown, Maryland and I am a Music Business and Entertainment Industries major. In my spare time, I like to watch movies, chill with friends and soak in the sun at the beach! This is my senior year at UM and I am ready to have and to share one more great experience with everyone! On campus, I am involved with the United Black Students , Music Entertainment Industry Student Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I have a lot of great ideas planned for the school year and am ready to meet everyone!

Hey guys! My name is Lena Habash and this will be my second year as a Resident Assistant here at UM! This year I will be an RA in the University Village while I spent my first year in Stanford Residential College. I'm a junior majoring in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Sports Medicine and on the Pre Med Track. I love to dance, run, play tennis and just be out in the beautiful Florida sunshine! I'm president of SalsaCraze on campus, treasurer of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., and in President's 100! I'm excited for a great year with you all!

Hello there! My name is Roderick Daniels and I am an electrical engineering major entering into my senior year. I was born and raised in Lithonia, close to Atlanta, Georgia. I'm an advocate for service and leadership. In previous years, I was involved in Tunnel of Oppression, Life Maze, Leadership Summit and IMPACT. I love music, soccer, food, yoga, and all things Miami. This is my third year as an RA and my first year in the University village. I'm pumped to kick off my last year here at UM! #GOCANES

Michael Oates

Hey there! My name is Michael Oates but everyone calls me Mo. I'm from Orlando, Florida and I'm a senior studying exercise physiology moving towards post graduate work in physical therapy. I'm an avid athlete and member of University of Miami's Triathlon team. I am a member of the Cinematic Arts Commission (CAC) whose job is to select and show the free movies at the Cosford Cinema on campus. I love anything that has to do with the outdoors and always enjoy a challenge. This will be my third year as an RA and I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello, my name is Chelsie McFarland and I'm a senior majoring in Human Resources Management with minors in Psychology and Religious Studies. I'm from Cooper City, Florida but have also lived in Michigan, Ohio, and Central Florida. This will be my third year as an RA, but my first in the UV and I'm very excited to experience something new this year. I've been involved with Homecoming, Relay for Life, Canefest, University Discipline Hearing Panel, and Great Start throughout my time at the U. I love going to all UM athletic events, cooking, going to the pool, and running. I'm looking forward to a great year and getting to know everyone!
