A resident assistant is a full-time undergraduate student who lives and works with students, staff, and faculty to facilitate a learning environment in the University Village. Advice to residents: My advice to residents would be to take every opportunity presented and not take anything for granted. When you start to feel tired, worn out, or overwhelmed with school or life, remember how far you have come. How much you have accomplished, all the hard work you have put in to be where you. Keeping your goals and where you are headed in mind can be crucial for success.

Advice to residents: Try your best to get the most out of your college experience- involve yourself in the school through extracurriculars and jobs, try to meet different people with different cultures, explore Miami & Florida, get to know your professors and most importantly, push yourself academically and professionally. College is the perfect time to discover your interests and your strengths and overall get to know yourself!

Advice to residents: Make the most of your time at UM. Even though you’re an upperclassman, there are plenty of ways to get involved and there are always new people to meet. I also suggest using the UV as a way to transition from a more structured living environment into an apartment which gives you more independence. So take the opportunity to learn to cook and live independently.

Advice to residents: Don’t be afraid to go after something difficult! Whether it’s a competitive internship or a position in a student organization, don’t hesitate to push yourself out of your own comfort zone. There’s nothing more satisfying than achieving something great, and very few great things come to people who are too afraid of putting themselves out there to try. Odds are you’re better than you think you are, so just go for it!
