Document Processing Times For International Students
If you have submitted to ISSS a complete application for a document, you may pick up your document from ISSS according to the document processing times listed below. ISSS will not contact you to remind you to pick up your completed document. You just need to collect your document from ISSS within the time frame below. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to these processing times other than a real emergency.
Attention new students: If you plan to apply to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for a Florida driver’s license or Florida ID, do not drop off your documents at ISSS until AFTER you have taken your documents to the DMV.
5 Business Days:

Form I-20 or Form DS-2019, certification signature on original or new document
- If you are not able to provide ISSS with a five-business day processing time for this document, request the “Traveling Without a Valid I-20” handout from the front desk.
- New students only: Please note that you can pick up documents five business days from date of course registration.
- Letter of certification to
- confirm valid F-1/J-1 international student status
- invite family members to visit U.S.
- apply for Social Security Number (Only for students who have on campus employment or off-campus work authorization.)
- attend summer courses at another U.S. institution
- Transfer eligibility form
- Home government or other organizations forms
7 Business Days:
- Academic Training (J-1)
- Change to student status
- Curricular Practical Training (F-1)
- Employment Authorization Based on Severe Economic Hardship
- Optional Practical Training (F-1)
- Program extension
