Residential College Move-In for first-year students with last names A-F, all engineering and music students

9:00am - 4:00pm

New Student and Parent Orientation Check-in
University Center, International Lounge, 2nd Floor
Orientation check-in is held over two days (8/15 and 8/16).  Parents that are participating in the Parent Orientation will be given their orientation materials at this time. 

1:00pm – 6:00pm

Residential College Move-In for first-year students with last names G-O, all engineering and music students

1:30pm – 4:30pm

Parent Orientation Session for Parents of Transfer Students
This session provides parents of transfer students that are unable to attend the formal Parent Orientation program with a condensed version of the program.  Representatives from university departments and academic units will be available to present information and answer questions.

‘Cane Kick-Off

President Shalala officially welcomes you to the University of Miami!  Students and parents are invited to learn what it means to be a ‘Cane: vibrant spirit & tradition, achievement in academics, interaction with outstanding faculty, excellence in research, and involvement outside the classroom.  This high energy event will also feature the UM cheerleaders, the Band of the Hour, and Sebastian the Ibis. Food concession stands will be open.

This presentation by the Dean and other representatives from your student’s school or college covers information about academic advising and services.  Locations vary.

Parent Information Sessions
The following 45-minute information sessions provide an opportunity for parents and families to ask questions and to discuss your student’s UM experience with knowledgeable administrators and staff.  Sessions are offered at multiple times throughout the afternoon.  

Vendors will be open at the Food Court, the Oasis in the University Center, and Subway at the Law School for lunch.  We suggest eating during either the first (11:30-12:15) or second (12:30-1:15) information sessions.
