Hello All! My name is Melissa Hechtman, and I am the Academic and Career Advisor (ACAR) for Stanford Residential College. This is my first year in the University of Miami, and I am excited to become a Hurricane! While from Miami, I ventured north to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Four winters later, I returned to the Sunshine State to earn a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education at Florida International University. As an ACAR, I am here to help first year students transition to U.M. I am available to help students choose appropriate courses and majors and plan for academic success. I am also here to guide students in developing career goals and applying for research positions, prestigious awards and fellowships, internships, work experience, and volunteer opportunities. Joined by a great team of Academic Fellows, I strive to help new students navigate the many resources available at the U through workshops, events, and advising.
