A Service/Leadership Liaison is an appointed first-year student that lives in each of the Residential Colleges as well as one commuter (6 Service Fellows in total). The Liaison serves as a link between the Butler Center and first-year communities and is primarily tasked with finding and providing service- and leadership-oriented activities for students within those communities. The Service/Leadership Liaison will also make connections with community partners while encouraging first-year students to take part in service activities with these organizations.
Expectations
- Develop a year-long sustainable service project on a particular issue or community partner
- Organize a non-sustainable service project centered on resident and commuter involvement
- Announce Butler Center programs and events to college council/commuter meetings
- Serve as an advocate for service and leadership endeavors at UM
- Positively represent the University of Miami and Residential Colleges/Commuter Involvement in all endeavors
Desired Qualifications
- Programming and event planning experience in high school
- Service oriented, experience coordinating service projects
- Willingness and passion to get involved with Butler Center programs and organizations
- Students with humility who express the desire to lead others through service
- A desire to learn about the Miami community

Interactions with Residence Life/Commuter Liaison
(Butler Center Student Assistant)
- Attend bi-weekly meeting with Butler Center professional staff and Residence Life/Commuter Liaison
- Service/Leadership Liaison will communicate all residential college/commuter service-based programs to Liaison
- Work with Liaison to complete position expectations
- Service/Leadership Liaison will communicate with Liaison to stay educated about Butler Center events & relay this information to college councils/Commuter Assistants
