The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is the primary University office responsible for the coordination of auxiliary aids and services for students with disabilities and/or that require special accommodations, including recommendations on a space available basis related to on-campus housing. The Department of Housing and Residential Life assists resident students and their families with housing-related special accommodations. Examples include overseeing attendant care access to the building daytime/overnight), facilitating remote access to student rooms where power assisted doors are installed, and coordinating with Facilities Customer Service any needed minor facility adaptions. Both single and double occupancy adapted rooms are currently provided in Mahoney College as well as single and double occupancy apartments in University Village.
Attendant care arrangements are done with private providers and is the responsibility of the student. Individual caregivers who will be providing assistance within on-campus housing and/or the private provider must provide photo identification prior to accessing the building or student’s room for documentation and security purposes. If space is available to accommodate a live-in attendant, the room charge will be applied to the student’s individual account.
