Within the Department of Housing and Residential Life, we employ a method of security known as “multi-tiered.” For example, our University of Miami Police Department is responsible for patrol and enforcement on the broad, open areas of campus. Once inside a residential area, access to living space becomes more difficult and more guarded to ensure student safety and is restricted to resident students only and authorized personnel.
