Moving in to your on-campus residential college room or University Village apartment is an
exciting yet hectic time for new
and returning students alike. The Department of Housing and
Residential Life does our very best to make the move-in process as easy
and simple as possible in order to help you get settled into your new
“home away from home”.

Housing for one or both of the two six-week summer sessions is
available in one of the residential colleges--University Village is also available for
qualified students (60+ completed UM academic credits), but only for
the combined two session dates.
Move-In
Instructions - Residential Colleges
- Arrive during your
designated check-in day and time period and report directly to your
residential college after parking in one of the short-term parking
areas - refer to the move-in parking map for specific locations.
- Proceed to your residential
college reception desk/lobby area to check-in and receive your room
keys.
- Once checked into your room,
you can check out a luggage cart in the lobby area to assist with
moving in your belongings as you unload your vehicle.
*Parking note: Once you have
completed your unloading, please move your vehicle to one of the
designated long-term parking areas in one of the three (3) garages -
refer to the move-in parking map for specific locations.
Welcome
Stations
(fall semester move-in)
To assist those moving into
Hecht and Stanford residential colleges, there will be "Welcome
Stations" located throughout the short-term parking areas. Each tented
"Welcome Station" will:
- Be staffed by trained
University employees and student assistants.
- Provide information and
answer questions you may have.
- Distribute water.
- Serve as a shuttle stop for
those needing assistance moving in or returning to Hecht and Stanford
Residential College.

Village Residents

Move-In
Instructions - University Village
- Arrive during your
designated check-in day and report directly to the University Village
Office after parking in one of the Village parking garages - the
Village office is located on the first floor of the north garage on
Albenga Avenue.
- In the Village Office you
will complete the check-in process and receive your apartment keys.
- Once checked into your
apartment, you can check out a luggage cart in the garage you parked in
to assist with moving in your belongings as you unload your vehicle.
*Parking note: For Village residents with vehicles, parking decals are issued through the Office of
Parking and Transportation Services--their office is located on the ground floor of the Flipse Building
adjacent to the Ponce Garage and they can be reached by telephone at (305) 284-3096. Please also remember
to not
park in the grass swales or surface lots that are not designated for
University Village resident parking as you are completing the check-in
or unloading process.

From
the North
Take
I-95 South, and it will
merge into U.S. 1; continue south on U.S. 1 for about 5 miles, then
make a right onto Stanford Drive.
If you are living in Mahoney or
Pearson Residential College, continue straight and make the first right
after you cross Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
If you are living in Eaton
Residential College, after you make a right onto Stanford Drive, turn
left onto Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Turn right onto George Merrick
Drive, then left onto Dickinson Drive. Eaton will be the building to
your right.
If you are living in Hecht or
Stanford Residential College, after you make a right onto Stanford
Drive, turn left onto Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Head straight for about
a quarter of a mile, then turn right onto Dickinson Drive. Hecht is the
first complex and Stanford the second at the end of the parking lot.
University Village is located
between San Amaro Drive and Red Road on the southwest side of the
campus. After turning south-bound onto Ponce de Leon
Boulevard, head straight for about a half-mile and just past the Alex
Rodriguez Park baseball complex you will make a right onto San Amaro
Drive. Continue on San Amaro Drive for four blocks and then
turn left onto Albenga Avenue. The University Village Office
will be on your right.
From
the West
Take
I-75 (or other routes) to
826 South. Exit at Miller Road. Turn right on San Amaro Drive, which
will end at Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Turn left and follow the
directions above, remembering that the University is now on your left.
From
Miami International Airport
Take
LeJeune Road south for
about 5 miles (through downtown Coral Gables), then make a right onto
Ponce de Leon Boulevard (just before the Metrorail). Travel southwest
for about 1.5 miles, then follow the directions listed above to find
your residential college/apartment area/University
Village check-in location.
Taxi/Shuttle

fare from the airport to
campus is about $25, and the airport shuttle van service is about $20.
