Checking In

All students must check in through their reception desk to receive their keys and complete the necessary paperwork, including Eaton and Stanford Colleges where hotel-style locks have been installed.  Picture identification is required for verification. Students should also notify the RA of their floor or apartment building of their initial arrival and/or departure.

Checking Out

Students moving out of their on-campus housing or switching rooms need to check out at their college or area reception desk. “Express Checkout” is available 24 hours a day by completing the checkout envelope at the reception desk in the residential colleges and sealing your room/apartment keys inside before depositing the envelope in the checkout box. University Village residents can find the “Express Checkout” box in the mailroom.  Eaton and Stanford College residents must complete the check-out envelope and provide their reason for moving out along with their forwarding address.

Failure to checkout could result in disruption of your mail and unnecessary charges/fines. In order to ensure minimal delays in mail delivery, make sure to complete the attached forwarding address slip.

All students are required to return the issued key(s) whenever checking out of their room, to leave their residences in a reasonably clean and orderly condition, and to follow the proper checkout procedures set forth by the Department of Housing and Residential Life Office. Eaton and Stanford College residents must return any Onity key cards issued by the reception desk.  Failure to do so will result in an administrative charge in addition to the re-keying charge if necessary. Administrative charges will be assessed in the following manner:

  1. Room cleaning - $100
  2. Failure to complete specific checkout procedures - $100
  3. Packing and removing student’s belongings from room after termination of student’s occupancy - $100
  4. Replacement Onity card - $20
  5. Re-key fee
  6. Painting fee

There are special procedures for moving out of on-campus housing at the completion of the spring semester. You must vacate your room 24 hours after your last examination unless you are a graduating senior.
