*This amount will be
reduced for vacation days taken including Saturdays and Sundays by
$53.57 per day for RAs and $70.00 for HRL Assistants.
DUTIES FOR SUMMER RAs
Duties will be assigned
to each Resident Assistant for 37.5 hours a
week. These duties will change during the summer as the volume of work
of each of the duties increases or decreases.
- Process and forward
all resident student mail
- Perform Resident
Assistant administrative duties (i.e. FCFs, staff meetings, etc.)
- Approximately 12 hours
per week as a Summer School Desk Assistant; 16 hours per week as a
University Village Desk Assistant
- Resident Assistant
area responsibilities as described in the Resident Assistant job
description including duty coverage, on-duty tours, work check-in and
check-out with Area Directors at the end of the summer
operation.

CRITERIA
- Past performance as a
Resident Assistant
- Experience in
administrative operations, word processing, and knowledge of programming
- Evaluation of
applicants

DUTIES
FOR HRL ASSISTANTS
- Work with Housing
Assignments staff and/or perform general office support functions
- Other duties as
assigned by Central Office staff
SELECTION
CRITERIA
- Past performance as a
member of the Department of Housing and Residential Life
- Experience with
administrative operations and customer service as well as computer
skills
- Evaluation of the
applicants.
NOTE: The University of
Miami maintains a commitment to provide a staff that is representative
of the population served.
GENERAL
GUIDELINE FOR EMPLOYEES
- The staff may not have
any outside employment or internship.
- RAs may take 1 course
or 3 hours at the University on the Coral Gables campus per Summer
Session. HRLAs may not take a course between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.,
Monday thru Friday.
- The RA staff will be
given up to 7 days optional unpaid vacation time (Saturdays and Sundays
included) and must be approved by the Area Director by May
31st. Staff must make arrangements for someone else who is on the staff
to cover their hours.
- HRLAs may be able to
take unpaid time-off with approval of the Associate Director of Housing and Residential Life. Number of days will vary based on individual and
department needs, but should be limited to 2 or 3 consecutive workdays
(Monday-Friday) for the entire summer period.

DUTIES
FOR CHs (approximate average
hours)
- 12 hours a week as a
Desk Assistant
- 10 hours a week doing
set-up and check-in
- 12 hours a week doing
facility preparation and check-out.
- 3.5 hours a week for
other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide duty coverage
for their assigned area. Note: These hours will fluctuate depending on
conference business and Department of Housing and Residential Life
requirements.
DUTIES
FOR CDAs
- Provide desk coverage
- Assist with group
set-up and check-in as scheduled
- Other duties assigned
by the supervisor
SELECTION
CRITERIA
- Past performance as a
member of the Department of Housing and Residential Life
- Experience in
conference work or related work, or an interest in conference services
- Ability and
willingness to do administrative and physical work of setting up and
tearing down conferences
- Ability to provide
excellent customer relations with all conference groups
- Evaluation of
application

- The staff may not have
any outside employment or internship
- The staff may take 1
course or 3 hours at the University on the Coral Gables campus per

- The CH staff will

Sundays included) and must be approved by Associate Director of Housing and
Residential Life by May 31st. Staff must make arrangements for someone
else who is on the staff to cover their hours.
