Academic Fellows (AFs) are undergraduate student staff members who live in the residential colleges. AFs serve as an academic transitional support system for first-year students as they face new challenges and concerns during their first year of college. Over the course of an academic year, AFs work an average of 10-12 hours per week. These hours include programs, designing & creating bulletin boards, and office hours. Learn more about each of Mahoney's AFs below.

Hello everyone! My name is Armstrong Ibe and I am a junior here at UM. I'm a neuroscience major on the pre-med track and I will be a second year Academic Fellow during the '10-'11 school year. I'm from the great state of Texas and come from a family of 6 kids (3 girls and 3 boys). I try to stay busy on campus with my involvement in African Students Union, Campus ministry, Minority Association of Pre-med Students, The Undergraduate Neuroscience Society and of course a part of the Academic Fellow staff. I enjoy spending time listening to music, reading the news, hanging out with my friends and exercising. I'm also involved in research with The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. I look forward to this school year and many new and exciting experiences here at The U!! |

Hello UM family! My name is Adelola Adeyemo, I usually go by Lola, and I have the pleasure of being the Academic Fellow on the first floor of Mahoney! I am a second-year Exercise Physiology major on the pre med track with a minor in chemistry and sociology (well at least that’s it for now). Born in Nigeria, I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and am now enjoying the undergraduate experience that the University of Miami, its environment and its staff, alumni, and students have to offer. One in a Million, African Student Union, M.A.P.S, and Leo Kwako African Dance Team are some of the organizations on campus that I am involved in, and I also have the honor of being a Ronald A. Hammond Scholar. This is my first year as an Academic Fellow and I look forward to working with the faculty, staff, and students in Mahoney and all the other residential colleges! |
