Wassup guys! I’m Roderick Daniels and I am an audio engineering major entering into my junior year. I was born and raised in Lithonia, close to Atlanta, Georgia. I’m an advocate for service and leadership. Last year, I was involved in Tunnel of Oppression, Life Maze, Leadership Summit and IMPACT. I love music, soccer, food, yoga, and all things Miami. This is my second year as an RA in Hecht and I’m pumped for another exciting year!

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Siedlak and I am a sophomore majoring in Marine Science and Biology. After an amazing freshman year living in Hecht, I am really excited to come back this year as an RA! I was born and raised in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, a small suburb of Cleveland. On campus I am involved in the National Honor Fraternity Phi Sigma Pi, note-taking for the Academic Resource Center, and other various events. There are tons of great opportunities to take advantage of on campus. I personally love tanning by the pool, going to the gym and workout classes, attending UM football games, and going out with my friends. Hey! My name is Joseph Vidal and I’m a first year RA and junior majoring in Psychology and Political Science. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and for the past two years I’ve been commuting (driving) to UM. I’m a member of Best Buddies Citizen-Miami and of the Honor Council. I’m a strong believer in giving back to the community which has led to my involvement in Ghandi Day of Service, UM Alternative Breaks, Orientation, and various service events through UM Volunteer Links. On my spare time you can find me working out at the wellness center, catching up on the latest episode of Glee, or jamming out to music. I enjoy outdoor activities and love meeting new people. Hey everyone! My name is Chelsie McFarland and I am a junior majoring in Human Resources Management with a minor in Psychology. I'm from Cooper City, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, but have also lived in Michigan, Ohio and Central Florida. This is my second year as an RA in Hecht and I can't imagine being anywhere else. I have been involved in Homecoming, Relay For Life, Campus Crusade for Christ, Alpha Lambda Delta, Canefest, and the Association of Commuter Students. In my free time I love going to any UM athletic event (especially football and baseball), spending time by the pool, scrapbooking, cooking, doing arts & crafts, going to kickboxing and yoga classes, and most importantly hanging out with my friends. I also love country music and going to concerts. Miami has so much to offer so take advantage of every opportunity you can. Hecht is the best place to live on campus, so be ready for a great year! Originally from Riverdale Maryland, I am a junior double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. While this will now be my third year living in Hecht, it will be my second year as an RA. Along with serving as an RA I am also a news reporter and anchor for the campus television station (UMTV), writer for the Miami Hurricane, Vice-Chair of the Homecoming Executive Committee, UDHP member, and a part of several other leadership development programs. I enjoying hanging with friends, experiencing the city of Miami, photography and most things creative/media related. Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Capps, I’m from Bradenton, Florida, and I’m going to be a sophomore this year here at the wonderful University of Miami. I’m majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Art History, and this will be my first year as an RA. I lived in Stanford last year, and I am so excited to be a part of the Hecht community now! Here on campus I’m involved with the Mock Trial team, which has allowed me to travel all over the country. When I’m not studying or competing, I like enjoying the Miami sun, spending time with my friends, singing, playing basketball (really badly but I still love it), and attending Canes football games. I was born and raised a Hurricanes fan, so I have fierce pride in our school, and I know you’ll love it as much as I do! Can’t wait to meet everyone, and remember, it’s all about The U!

Hi everyone. My name is Matt McCabe and I am a sophomore majoring in Biology. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised just outside the city in a suburb called Oak Park. I came to the []_[] because I wanted a completely different experience than the one I had growing up in Illinois. To be honest, I was also very attracted by Miami’s awesome weather. On campus I am Dean’s Ambassador for the college of Arts and Science, I work with the Canes Emergency Response Team and I am very involved in the Ceramic Art Department. In my free time I volunteer at Doctor’s Hospital, try to sample as much of Miami’s delicious food as I possibly can, hang out at the beach and scuba dive. I am really looking forward to this year at Hecht and can’t wait to meet all of you!

Hey everyone! My name is Kristina Amrani and I am a junior majoring in Athletic Training with a minor in Exercise Physiology. I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and my time at UM has been a much-needed break from the cold. I lived in Hecht as a freshman and can tell you it truly is the original and best place to live on campus. I am involved in P100 and Category 5, the spirit organization on campus, and love helping students get involved. Some of my favorite times at UM, and in Hecht, are Homecoming, Sportsfest, and Relay for Life. I enjoy playing soccer, singing and dancing, spending time in the sun, and watching some of my favorite TV shows (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Real Housewives of anywhere – and anything HGTV). This will be my second year as an RA, third year in Hecht, and I am so excited to meet all of you!

Hi, my name is Nicholas Moore and I am a junior majoring in Journalism and Creative Writing and minoring in Philosophy. I'm from Davie, Florida, which is a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale and about 40 minutes away from here. I keep myself busy with several student organizations; notably Random Acts of Kindness, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Cinematic Arts Commission. I have also written for Distraction Magazine and The Hurricane as writing is a passion of mine. In my free time I love to play sports, attend as many UM sporting events as humanly possible, watch movies, sing, and hang out with friends. I have lived in Hecht every moment of my college experience and can't imagine living anywhere else, it's definitely the place to live on campus. Hey guys! My name is Radhika Joshi, but I also go by Rad, a premed sophomore majoring in Psychology. Although I was born in India, I have been raised in the United States most of my life and call Baltimore, Maryland home. This is going to be my first year as a Hecht RA and I am so excited to meet all of you guys. I lived in Hecht my freshman year, and it is definitely the place to live. At the wonderful []_[], I play on the Club Lacrosse team (yeah ULax!), was heavily involved in Hecht College Council, and am a member of various clubs, like the Indian Student Association. Hi everybody! I’m Nick Azzarito, and I am a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut, so I’m thrilled to be living somewhere warm. This is my first year as an RA and I’m so excited for my first year living in Hecht. I love being active, so whether its community service or pickup basketball, I’ll be there. Hey, I’m Emily Estes and I am going to be the RA for Pentland 2. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and I’m a Junior majoring in Marine Biology. Around campus, I am a Marine Science Peer Counselor, a member of the Marine Science Honor Society RHO and love volunteering with UM events like Ghandi Day and Hurricanes Help the Hometown. I love anything that has to do with the ocean and this summer I interned at a Dolphin Research and Education facility. This is my second year as an RA and I lived in Hecht my freshman year too. Hey everyone! I’m Michael Babinchak and I am a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry. I grew up in the small town of Winter Park a few miles north of Orlando, Florida. I’m a big fan of music and the sciences. I sing in the University of Miami’s co-ed a capella group, Harmonicanes, and I am the music coordinator at the Wesley Methodist Foundation. I enjoy helping out the community in a variety of ways and am on the executive board for the organization Students Together Ending Poverty. I lived in Hecht as a freshman and can’t wait to continue the legacy. This is my first year as an RA and I am excited for what this year has in store! Oh yeah, Hecht yeah!

Hi, my name is Paige Towey. I’m a sophomore from St. Petersburg, Florida double majoring in English and Biology. Last year I was a resident in Hecht. It was a blast participating in all the activities, but I have to say that my favorite was Sportsfest. I’m an avid reader, and an aspiring writer. In my downtime, I enjoy watching movies (classic Disney movies are my favorite), attempting craft projects that almost never get finished, and watching my favorite baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays. I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall, and I’m excited for my first year as an RA.

Hello, all you Hechtians! My name is Mike Kane and I’m a Psychobiology and Spanish Double Major from Overland Park, Kansas. I’m a sophomore, and I can’t think of a better way to spend this year than back in Hecht with all of you guys! I love being involved, and am currently with the American Medical Student Association as their Physician Shadowing C coordinator, the Elections Commission branch of Student Government, the Honors Student Association, as well as a lot of the volunteer events that are sponsored by different groups within the university. I love relaxing, spending time with friends, and of course going to UM sporting events. This will be my first year as an RA, and I hope you all are as excited as I am for an awesome year at the U!

Some things that I got involved in last year include Baptist Campus Ministry, Relay for Life, STRIVE, IMPACT, and Hecht College Counsel. I also worked in the Department of Religious Studies as a work study. I enjoy watching any sport especially our Miami football games! Hey there! My name is Michael Oates but everyone calls me Mo. I'm from Orlando Florida and I'm a Junior studying exercise physiology moving towards post graduate work in physical therapy. I'm an avid athlete and member of University of Miami's Triathlon team. I am a member of the Cinematic Arts Commission (CAC) whose job is to select and show the free movies at the Cosford Cinema on campus. I love anything that has to do with the outdoors and always enjoy a challenge. This will be my second year as an RA and I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

I graduated from a small, private school in Tampa, Florida where I grew up, so coming to UM was an exciting change. I love watching and playing sports, especially basketball. I also like singing, going to the beach, watching movies, and traveling. Hi everybody! My name is Hilary Street, and I am a senior majoring in marine science and biology. I'm from a small town in central Minnesota, so living in Miami is a lot different than being at home! I lived in Hecht as a freshman, and was an RA my sophomore year before taking a year to study abroad. I spent one semester at a field station in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and another semester in the Galapagos Islands, and now I'm really looking forward to returning to Hecht for my last year at UM. On campus I'm involved with the marine science honor society Rho Rho Rho, Scuba Club, Ocean Kids, Marine Mammal Stranding Team, and Teach for America, as well as whatever volunteer opportunities I can fit in. I enjoy being active, so Sportsfest is definitely one of the highlights of my year. I love everything to do with the water- swimming, scuba diving; snorkeling, sailing... you name it! I also love taking pictures, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year, and I can't wait to meet everyone!
