Academic Fellows (AFs) are undergraduate student staff members who live in the residential colleges. AFs serve as an academic transitional support system for first-year students as they face new challenges and concerns during their first year of college. Over the course of an academic year, AFs work an average of 10-12 hours per week. These hours include programs, designing & creating bulletin boards, and office hours. Learn more about each of Hecht's AFs below.

Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Capps, from Bradenton, Florida. I’ve been an RA in Hecht Residential College for the past two years, and I’m so excited to take on a new role in the building this upcoming year as the AF for MT 2 and 3! I'm going to be a senior this year, and I'm majoring in Anthropology and Economics with a minor in Art History. Around campus, I’ve been a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant for the Anthropology department, I sing with the Women's Symphonic Choir, I’m a Desk Assistant in Hecht, and I'm a sister in Kappa Kappa Gamma. In my free time, I love reading, spending time with my friends in the Miami sun, and OF COURSE attending every single Canes football game. Living in Hecht is such a special experience - from Homecoming, to Sportsfest, to Relay for Life, to those everyday moments you share with other Hecht residents - and I hope all of you will find this community as exciting and fun as I have! Can't wait to meet everyone, and remember, it's all about The U!
