Academic Fellows (AFs) are undergraduate student staff members who live in the residential colleges. AFs serve as an academic transitional support system for first-year students as they face new challenges and concerns during their first year of college. Over the course of an academic year, AFs work an average of 10-12 hours per week. These hours include programs, designing & creating bulletin boards, and office hours. Learn more about each of Hecht's AFs below.

Aloha! I am Jasmine Holmes, a proud second-generation Miami Hurricane from Tallahassee, FL, and I am delighted to be serving as an experienced, second-year Academic Fellow in Hecht Residential College for the 2012-2013 academic year. I am a junior Ronald A. Hammond Scholar in the School of Business Administration, majoring in accounting and Africana studies. Those two fields are enough evidence to show that my academic interests are varied to say the least, but my involvement outside of the classroom is quite diversified as well. On campus, I am involved with Black Female Development Circle (BFDC), School of Business Administration Council, Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee (SAFAC), and National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). In my spare time, I love to paint, dance, go to the beach, worship, hang out with friends, gallery hop, try new restaurants, and eat ice cream. Feel free to stop by anytime because I can't wait to meet U! |

Welcome to the U family! My name is Jennifer Ulysse and I am so excited and honored to be serving as an Academic Fellow for MT 10 and 11! A little about me: I am a junior from Sunrise, FL majoring in Microbiology and Immunology with minors in Chemistry and Health Sector Management and Policy. Though I am definitely intrigued by the unique science of microorganisms I also admire the arts. I love the creativity demonstrated through music, especially within Jazz styles. I love how you can capture life with words so I can't help but journal my experiences. I am so grateful for the many priceless and humorous moments that I get to share with my family and friends. Currently I am the president of University Christian Fellowship and I have had incredible experiences since my freshman year singing in the worship band, going on mission's trips, and learning about my faith with so many amazing students. More importantly, I look forward to getting to know all of my fellow residents and doing nothing but my very best to help you all have a phenomenal school year! |

Hello everyone! My name is Paul Levy, and I'm from Stony Brook, New York, a typical suburb on Long Island. I'm a sophomore, and this will be my first year as an AF. I'm majoring in Physics and Math, with a minor in Computer Engineering. Despite these technical fields, I truly enjoy all types of knowledge, and like to read, play cello and run. I hope to share my interests, ideas and experiences with others, as well as learn from and help all of my residents. I really love conversing with others, so please stop by if you're my resident (or if you're not). |

Though officially undeclared, I am on the premed track and am pursuing a double major in Economics and Math. Ultimately I hope to become an Orthopedist, but could decide to do business instead. Last year I was on the Club Baseball team but when I'm not at the field you can find me playing soccer or working out. I also serve on the planning committee for Relay for Life. Looking forward to meeting all of you and helping you get acclimated to life here at Miami. |
