The International Student Liaison (ISL) is a Division of Student Affairs professional staff member who fills various roles in support of DOSO programs, services, and initiatives, specifically as they relate to the interests of the University of Miami’s international student population. The responsibilities of ISL include planning, assessment and evaluation of services, and advising students and student organizations. In addition, ISL communicates with offices and individuals both on and off campus, and acts as a liaison to various University departments, including the Counseling Center, Student Health Center, Office of the Ombudsperson, Multicultural Student Affairs, and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). Within DOSO, ISL assists the Deans in resolving international student queries and concerns regarding their physical, mental, social, familial, academic, disciplinary, economic, and other adjustment issues affecting their matriculation to and movement through the University. ISL is also accustomed to interacting with parents, governmental agencies, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and other members of the larger university community.
