Transfer Assistant (TA) is a position created to work with incoming with transfer students by serving as a mentor, planning programs that will aid in their transition to college, and working with the Department of Orientation and Commuter Student Involvement to plan, promote, and implement initiatives specifically focused on transfer students.

Transfer Assistants work with incoming transfer students to help with their transition and create programs to help new students get involved at the U!

Stephanie Baguidy

Stephanie Baguidy

Minor: Microbiology

“My name is Stephanie and I am a biology major here at the University of Miami. I take pride in being a Miami Hurricane and enjoy learning as much as I can about the different cultures that I interact with on this campus. I work both on and off campus and I am heavily involved in volunteering with kids. I also enjoy fostering great relationships with my transfer students through this position. What I have learned is that you can accomplish anything on this campus.”

“I am a born and raised South Florida girl who majored in theater for high school. I have also transferred 3 times. I am an avid reader and I have to finish the book before I can watch the movie. My favorite thing about being a TA is helping students feel comfortable at the U and finding new clubs to expand their horizon.”

“I transferred to the University of Miami fall of 2014 in my sophomore year of college. I am from Nashville, Tennessee; but my family lives in the South Florida area. I am a member of student organizations, such as Association of Commuter Students (ACS), Federacion de Estudiantes Cubanos (FEC), and United Black Students (UBS). On campus, I enjoy attending spirit and sport related events and outside of school, I enjoy involvement in the art scene.”

Our mission if we chose to accept it as transfer assistants is to help students transition into their new UMiami lifestyle by providing a sense of community and support.
