Dear New UM Student:
Congratulations, and welcome to the University of Miami! Each summer, the Department of Orientation & Commuter Student Involvement invites incoming first-year commuter students to participate in the Great Start program.
Great Start is an overnight pre-orientation program designed to promote and emphasize college adjustment and campus involvement opportunities for commuter students. The program's goal is to help commuters successfully transition to the University and provide a chance to meet other commuter students. Students who participated in Great Start have said the program greatly contributed to a positive transition from high school to college.
This Summer 2015, we will be offering two programs: June 27-28, and July 25-26. This website will provide an overview of our activities and information on how to register for one of the weekend programs. The cost of attending Great Start 2015 will depend on the date of registration:
|April 20 – May 21:||$75|
|May 22 – June 15:||$85|
|June 16 – July 20:||$95|
The registration fee includes weekend housing, all meals during the program, a t-shirt, and other spirit items. Our online registration will accept credit card payments only. Online registration will be available beginning Monday, April 20. You are encouraged to sign up sooner than later, as these sessions fill up quickly! Admitted students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will receive a mailing about the program in early spring.
The deadline to register for each session is as follows; registration will close at 5pm on the following days:
|Session I (June 27-28):||Monday, June 22|
|Session II (July 25-26):||Monday, July 20|
