All Commencement ceremonies are held in the Watsco Center which is an ADA facility. School and College receptions are held at various locations throughout campus.
Please contact the Office of Commencement at 305-284-1824, 305-284-3401 (TDD), or email@example.com to request special accommodations not addressed below for upcoming events. Requests for individuals with a disability should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event to allow for coordination.
The University of Miami does not provide wheelchairs. Rental options are provided by Medical Equipment Solutions at 305-590-5755. Please mention that it is for the University of Miami Commencement ceremony.
For those guests arriving with their own wheelchairs, please park in the Special Needs lot and proceed directly to the Special Needs Entrance at the Watsco Center.
PARKING FOR THE CEREMONY
The Special Needs Parking is located in front of the Watsco Center at the Serpentine lot on Walsh Avenue. Handicap Parking Decals or Special Passes are NOT needed. There will be golf carts shuttling guests who cannot walk long distances to and from the Watsco Center from surrounding surface lots. Shuttle service will run to and from the Pavia Garage and the Watsco Center. There will also be shuttle service to the University Center and the Bookstore on Stanford Drive. There will be no shuttle service at the Ponce de Leon Garage.
All seating at the Commencement ceremonies is general seating and on a first-come basis. We recommend that large groups wishing to sit together arrive early although seats together are not guaranteed. To accommodate all of our guests, seats may not be saved.
In addition to the general seating, wheelchair accessible areas are reserved for guests in wheelchairs or who cannot walk long distances. Access to the seating areas is via an elevator in our Special Needs/VIP Lobby Entrance (located right across from the parking lot). Due to space limitations, the number of family members that can be seated in those areas will be limited.
