The mission above is accomplished through the cooperative efforts between Facilities Management & Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to keep all systems certified, code compliant and in optimal conditions and managing compliance with the Local and State Fire Safety Regulations and Codes.

In order to create a partnership for success, our programs rely on the coordinated efforts of students, employees, faculty, and external agencies.

UM’s Coral Gables campus rests in the jurisdiction of the City of Coral Gables Fire Department.  As such our program is designed to meet the varied requirements of this Authority having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

The Fire Safety Shop reports to the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). The Shop is responsible for conducting Fire Safety Inspections on fire protection and detection equipment at the Coral Gables campus. We respond to fire alarms and work closely with University Police Department (UMPD) & Coral Gables Fire Department (CGFD) to respond and restore fire protection equipment to normal operating condition after any incident.
