Message from the Director
Welcome to the University of Miami’s Parking and Transportation Services website. We have provided information that we hope will make your parking and transportation experience at the University, and around town, as pleasant as possible.
The University of Miami’s Department of Parking and Transportation is committed to providing reliable transportation options and safe parking that enhances the quality of life for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors while providing mobility and accessibility and promoting sustainability on campus. Our department is responsible for the overall management of parking facilities and services, traffic control, maintaining an effective commuting system, and meeting the transportation needs of the Coral Gables (CG) campus.
The Parking and Transportation Department offers several programs to assist the University of Miami community in meeting their commuting and parking needs. Our Hurry 'Cane Shuttles are a quick and convenient means of “getting around campus.” They operate during the fall and spring semesters, with limited services during the summer. Hurry ‘Canes Shuttle are available without charge to all University students, faculty, staff and visitors, and serve most major campus buildings, and parking lots, (including perimeter lots) as well as the University Metrorail station. We have two major shuttle routes, the Stanford Route, which operates between the Ponce Garage and Stanford Circle and the Fountain Route, which operates between the Ponce Garage and Fountain (behind the Ashe Building). The shuttle runs at five-eight minute intervals during class, Monday through Friday. We also offer the Rosenstiel Shuttle. This service operates between the Coral Gables campus (Fountain – Behind the Ashe Building) and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science campus on Virginia Key, Key Biscayne.
In addition, during the fall and spring semester we offer the Ibis Ride Shuttle and the Sunset Shuttle for UM resident students. The shuttles transport campus community members to popular off-campus locations, such as Coconut Grove, Shops at Sunset Place, Publix, TGI Fridays, CVS, Whole Foods, etc. For schedule details visit Ibis Ride Shuttle or the Sunset Shuttle link
You may also choose to commute independently by walking or biking. Think about all the benefits: No need to search for a parking space, fast and convenient, reduces pollution, saves energy, and allows you to get some exercise all while enjoying our beautiful campus.
Please take some time to review the Transportation options and Parking FAQs, as well as UM’s parking eligibility for student, faculty and staff and visitors. We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with our parking facilities prior to arriving on campus in order to ensure that your needs are met. The quick parking reference guide and tips to avoid getting a citation are both useful resources that will help to make your parking and transportation experience a satisfactory one
