Peter Lewis is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Miami. He received his B.A. in physics (1988) from Oxford University, and his M.A. (1992) and Ph.D. (1996) in philosophy from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to arriving at Miami in August 2000, he was Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Texas Tech University (1996-2000) and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong (1998-2000). His research interests are in philosophy of science, especially philosophy of physics, scientific realism and scientific methodology. He has published articles on the foundations of quantum mechanics and on scientific realism, and is currently trying to figure out what quantum mechanics tells us about determinism, probability and immortality, among other things.
