SecureMail was implemented to meet a number of external regulatory requirements. As part of this compliance, the University will be requiring encryption of all email containing
sensitive or
confidential information as defined by the
Data Classification Policy. You may personally want to take advantage of this capability if you are sending sensitive or personal data that you want to keep private.
SecureMail will automatically trigger encryption if email content sent to an address not participating in the SecureMail service appears to contain credit card numbers, medical record numbers or Social Security numbers.
No costs are charged for this service.
Insert "[secure]" in the subject line, without the quotes. Any recipient with an address external to UMail or Med will receive an encrypted copy of that message.
