Lync Experiencing Limited Functionality

Lync client experienced functionality outages due to a storage outage on the host server.

Users mainly experienced the following:

  • Lync client may connect, but you may not see your contacts.
  • Sometimes when chatting with another user, you may get an error stating that the message was not sent.
  • There is no presence being displayed in your Lync client or in Outlook.

You may still chat if you find the person you want to talk to using the cached address (you need to type the name of the person in the "Find someone" search box), however, there is no guarantee you will find that person or that the chat will not have any errors.

UMIT was able to work on the issue and bring the Lync service back to full functionality at 4:30 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience.
