The Instructional Advancement Center (IAC) is a part of Academic Computing within UMIT. The role of the IAC is to support course-related educational activities at the University. The Center has two primary responsibilities: management of the technology in classrooms on the Coral Gables campus, and administration of the Blackboard learning management system. The majority of the 84 classrooms managed by the IAC are equipped with a PC (Windows and MAC), document camera, DVD/VCR, wireless microphone, audio, projector, and a Sympodium writeable display. More than 15,000 different students and faculty use the Blackboard learning management system per week. Additionally, the IAC provides training and support for the learning management tools, and provides other consultations to aid with the integration of technology into the classroom.
