Student Government is involved in many different campus-wide initiatives that are designed to benefit all of the University of Miami Student Body.
Campus Life
Campus life initiatives focus on Health and Wellness, Facilities, IT, Parking and Transportation, Housing, and big campus-wide projects. Examples include bringing the Farmer's Market to campus every Wednesday, giving students the opportunity to rent a ZipCar, and making sure laundry is free on campus. Dining
Student Government works with Auxiliary Services and Dining Services, which are the departments on campus that runs dining halls, the food court, vending machines, and more. Academic
Student Government continually reviews campus academic policies to ensure that the needs of students are met. Past initiatives include creating the Design-A-Course option for students, changing the academic calendar to better fit thanksgiving break, and bringing textbook rentals to campus. Programming
We are always working to develop interesting and exciting programs to campus. In the past, we've brought MTV's The Buried Life, put on Canes Got Talent and UFactor, as well as an Iron Chef competition. To see the full list of completed and ongoing initiatives, click here.
Category 5
Category 5 is the Spirit Programming Board focused on preserving and implementing traditions related to sports and spirit at the University of Miami. ECO Agency
Energy & Conservation Organization (ECO) determines and implements sustainable initiatives to "green" the U. Initiatives ECO has completed are installing the LUCID energy monitoring program on campus buildings and offering sponsorships to other campus organizations.
