U Innovation oversees all aspects of technology commercialization at the University of Miami. Our team supports, promotes, and facilitates the transfer of UM innovations for the benefit of the university community and the public. We are the bridge between in-house laboratory research and companies, entrepreneurs, and investors. Our primary aim is to connect university researchers with business enterprises, entrepreneurs, and unique external resources. From basic science to applied research and from industry collaborations to start-up opportunities, we seek to engage every member of the UM community.
While operating as one team, U Innovation is comprised of two groups: the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) and the Wallace H. Coulter Center (WHCC) for Translational Research. OTT is chiefly focused on licensing and start-up activity, while WHCC can be thought of as the funding arm. However, there is considerable overlap in our activities and you can look forward to working with members of both groups.
U Innovation seeks to connect with university faculty and industry leaders alike. If you have questions about licensing technologies from the University of Miami, please contact us. If you are a UM researcher and would like to discuss potential next steps of commercializing your innovation, please contact us.
