Student Wireless Network Access Service
WirelessCanes is the University of Miami’s wireless network available in most areas of the Coral Gables campus. This service provides fast, reliable access to the Internet and UM network connectivity to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and staff. All that is needed is a computer with an 802.11b, 802.11b/g, 802.11b/g/n, 802.11a/b/g, or 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN card. PDAs and WiFi enabled phones with an Internet browser can also access the wireless network. You can surf the Internet and check e-mail from anywhere within our wireless cloud.
To sign up for WirelessCanes, please click here. You must first know your MAC address of your wireless LAN card in order to complete the on-line application. Students can print out the Quick Start Guide for details on setting up WirelessCanes.
