Student Residential College Network Access Service
CaneNet is the University of Miami’s student network located in the Residential Colleges and University Village. This service provides fast, reliable Internet and UM network connectivity to currently enrolled students living in the five Residential Colleges and in the new University Village. Data jacks are available to students living in these residential communities, so you can surf the Internet and check e-mail from your dorm room. All that is needed is a computer with a network interface card (10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet compatible) and an RJ-45 patchcord (Category 5 Ethernet compatible).
To sign up for CaneNet, please click here. You must first know your MAC address of your Ethernet NIC card in order to complete the on-line application. Students can print out the Quick Start Guide for details on setting up CaneNet.
For further CaneNet information, please contact the IT Support Center at (305) 284-6565 and select the appropriate menu option, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
