Instructions to register your wireless device for WirelessCanes

  1. Visit MyUM, http://myum.miami.edu, to register your wireless card.
  2. Enter your CaneID.  If you do not know your CaneID username, please click on "First time using CaneID?".
  3. Enter your CaneID password.  If you do not know your CaneID password, please click on "Manage your CaneID account".
  4. Employees who have never registered for WirelessCanes before are given a CaneID default password that needs to be reset.  To change or reset your CaneID password, please click on the link https://caneid.miami.edu.
  5. After logging in to myUM, click on the top tab labeled "Life at UM".
  6. In the Other Functions box at the bottom right of the page click on "CaneNet and Wireless Network Access".
  7. Select Continue to go to the Network Access Application webpage.
  8. In the Employee Application for Network Access webpage, enter your MAC address for your wireless network card, or if you do not have a device to register, but need wireless access, check the box labeled WirelessCanes Authentication Access.
  9. Read the Computer Access and Confidentiality Policy and the Use of University Computing Facilities Policy and select the box agreeing to abide by the University's policies.
  10. Click on "Submit Changes" to confirm your request.
  11. Click on the large "Warning:" button to process your request.
  12. Wait a few minutes, and then reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.  If you have not registered a device, but checked the box labeled WirelessCanes Authentication Access, no waiting is required.
  13. Open a browser window to get the WirelessCanes login page.
  14. Login to WirelessCanes with your CaneID and password (that you may have created above).
  15. To change or reset your CaneID password, please click on the link https://caneid.miami.edu.
