Note: Every optional feature that uses a special button on your set can also be accessed using a Flexible Feature Code (FFC). This allows you to use many features without needing a special button for each one. The FFC's for every available function will be posted here once they are finished being set up.


Meridian-1® Multibutton Dialing Instructions

FEATURE OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS


HOLD
To Hold Call
  • Press HOLD (an arrow will flash beside the line on hold)
To Return to Call
  • Press the line key with the flashing arrow


HANDSFREE CALLING
To activate
  • Press HANDSFREE/MUTE or a line key instead of picking up your handset.
  • Press RLS to end your call.
To Mute a Handsfree Call
  • Press HANDSFREE/MUTE. (An arrow next to the line key flashes).
  • Press HANDSFREE/MUTE again to return to 2-way conversation.
To Switch from the handset to Handsfree
  • Press HANDSFREE/MUTE.
  • Hang up the handset.


LAST NUMBER REDIAL
To activate
  • Lift handset
  • Press DN key once
  • Or without lifting handset
  • Press DN key twice
  • Last number is automatically dialed (each time a new number is dialed it overrides the previously stored number)


AUTOMATIC DIAL
To program
  • Without lifting handset
  • Press the AUTODIAL key
  • LCD flashes
  • Enter number
  • Press AUTODIAL
  • LCD turns off
To use
  • Lift handset
  • Press AUTODIAL key
  • Number is automatically dialed
CALL PICK-UP
to answer a ringing phone in pickup group
To activate
  • Lift handset
  • Press CALL PICK-UP
  • Speak with caller
DIRECTED CALL PICK-UP
to answer a specific ringing phone
To activate
  • Lift handset
  • Dial DIRECTED CALL PICK-UP CODE
  • Dial extension number of ringing phone
  • Speak with caller


TRANSFER
(to transfer a call)
To activate
  • Press TRANSFER or CONFERENCE
  • Dial third party number
  • Announce transfer
  • Press TRANSFER or CONFERENCE to connect parties
  • Press RLS to hang-up (to return if busy/no answer press DN key next to flashing LCD)


CONFERENCE
(to conference 3 to 6 parties)
To activate
  • Establish first call
  • Press CONFERENCE
  • Dial next party
  • Announce conference
  • Press CONFERENCE to connect all parties
  • Repeat procedure if allowed (to return if busy/no answer press DN key next to flashing LCD)


CALL FORWARDING
(to send all calls to another number)
To activate
  • Without lifting handset
  • Press FORWARD
  • LCD flashes
  • Enter telephone number
  • Press FORWARD
  • LCD stays on (to reactivate forwarding to the same number press FORWARD twice)
To cancel
  • Without lifting handset
  • Press FORWARD
  • LCD turns off


CALL FORWARD AND BUSY STATUS
features The Call Forward and Busy Status is used when party A forwards calls to Party B for screening.
Party B can:
  • Monitor, activate or deactivate Call Forward for party A
  • Override Call Forward of party A, in order to place a call to party A
  • Determine whether party A is busy on a call


CALL FORWARDING - INTERNAL
(to send all internal calls to another number)
To activate
  • Without lifting handset, dial the Internal Call Forward FFC
  • LCD flashes
  • Enter telephone number
  • Dial the Internal Call Forward FFC again
  • LCD stays on (to reactivate internal forwarding to the previous number, just dial the code twice)
To cancel
  • Without lifting handset
  • Dial the Internal Call Forward FFC
  • LCD turns off


CALL PARK
(to park a call and retrieve it from another phone)
To park a call with the call park button
  • Press CALL PARK
  • If you don't want to park the call to your extension or the System Park Extension, dial an extension to park the call on
  • Press CALL PARK again
  • Hang up
To park a call with the Call Park FFC
  • Press TRANSFER or CONFERENCE
  • Enter the Call Park FFC
  • If you don't want to use your extension or the System Park Extension, dial an extension number
  • Press TRANSFER or CONFERENCE again
To retrieve
  • Select a free DN key
  • Press CALL PARK or dial the Call Park FFC
  • Dial extension number on which call is parked
CALL PAGE
(to page someone on a customer supplied paging system)
To use      Telephones cannot be assigned a Call Page key. To use Call Page, pick a free DN, and dial the special page code to be connected to the paging system.
CALL WAITING
(to pick up a call when you are already on another call)
To use
  • Press Hold
  • To pick up the incoming call, press call wait or press the DN key with the flashing arrow next to it.
GROUP HUNT Description      If a call encounters a busy DN and a Group Hunting Pilot DN is specified, then the call is routed to the next idle DN in a pre-arranged group.

HOT LINE To use      The system administrator can program a Hot Line telephone number that is dialed automatically when Hot Line is pressed. If your main line is a Hot Line, the number will be dialed automatically when you lift the handset.

INTERCOM
(to call a group member)
To activate
  • Lift handset
  • Press I/C key
  • Dial 1 or 2-digit intercom code
  • Group member is called
MAKE BUSY
(makes your telephone appear busy to all callers)
To use
  • To activate, press MAKE BUSY
  • Repeat to deactivate
MALICIOUS CALL TRACE To use
  • Press TRACE.
  • Keep the caller on the line to allow time to trace the call.


ON HOLD ON LOUDSPEAKER
To use On Hold On Loudspeaker allows a user to monitor one conversation on their loudspeaker (which is on hold) while being in another conversation using the handset. The user may hold the handset call and enter the call on hold on loudspeaker at any time.
  • Place the call on hold.
  • Press LOUDSPEAKER.
  • Press the DN key for that call. It will be put over the loudspeaker.
  • You can then use the handset to place calls normally without affecting the call on loudspeaker.


PRIVACY RELEASE
To use Privacy release allows someone who shares your extension to join your call.
  • Press Priv Rls
  • The other person may now join your call by pressing the DN key beside the flashing arrow


SPEED CALL
(to quickly dial a telephone number)
To program
  • Without lifting handset
  • Press SPEED CALL
  • LCD flashes
  • Enter 1 or 2-digit code (0-9, 00-99)
  • Enter telephone number
  • Press SPEED CALL
  • LCD turns off
To use
  • Lift handset
  • Press SPEED CALL
  • LCD turns on
  • Dial 1 or 2-digit code (0-9, 00-99)
  • LCD turns off
  • Number is automatically dialed


SPEED CALL ON PRIVATE LINES
To use Speed call on private lines allows you to access a private line trunk and make a speed call. See speed call for more information on setting up speed codes.
  • Press PRIVATE LINE
  • Lift the handset.
  • Press SPEED CALL
  • Enter the Speed Call code of the number you want to dial.
SYSTEM SPEED CALL
(to use a shared Speed Call List)
To use
  • Lift handset
  • Press SYSTEM SPEED CALL
  • Dial 2 or 3-digit code
  • Number is automatically dialed


TIMED REMINDER RECALL
To use Timed Reminder Recall rings your telephone after a period of time to remind you of a transferred call that has not yet been answered.
  • When transferring a call, if you do not wait for the receiving party to answer, the Timed Reminder Recall timer is activated. If the call is answered, the timer stops.
  • If the call is not answered, your telephone rings.
  • Pick up the handset or press the DN key to talk to the original caller.
  • Press TRANSFER to retry the transfer.
  • If the person to whom you are transferring the call answers while you are on the line, a conference call is set up between the three of you. Hang up to complete the transfer.


VOICE CALL
(to place a call through someone else's loudspeaker)
To use
  • Lift handset or press DN key
  • Press VOICE CALL
  • Dial the extension you are calling
  • Make your announcement
  • To end your Voice Call, just hang up.
When you receive a voice call, your phone rings once, and you hear the caller's voice through the speaker. You can pick up the phone to speak to the caller.
MESSAGE WAITING
(to check your messages)
