INFO FOR:

New Online Application System

April 17, 2012 —

The University of Miami International Education and Exchange Programs Office is now accepting online Study Abroad applications.  The new system will reduce paperwork and make the Study Abroad application process more streamlined for students, faculty and staff at the University of Miami.

Students can access the new application system through the Study Abroad home page:  http://www.miami.edu/studyabroad.  In addition to browsing the multiple study abroad options available to them, students will now be able to search for programs that meet their desired criteria.  Programs can be searched on characteristics such as academic term and location, but also by such criteria as academic area or language prerequisite.

The study abroad application process itself has completely changed, although the application requirements have not.  Students can now apply individually to a specific program that interests them and complete all of the initial application requirements online. Students answer required questions, sign and upload documents, and request electronic approvals and recommendations through the new ‘My StudyAbroad’ page that is available to active applicants.  Additionally, accepted students will now be able to complete the majority of their post acceptance requirements online.  Please note that with few exceptions the standard application deadlines are March 1st for Summer, Fall, and Academic Year programs, October 1st for Fall and Calendar Year programs,  December 1st for January Intersession programs, and February 1st for Spring Break programs.  Some programs have deadlines as early as February for summer and fall, and mid-August for spring.  These deadlines are fixed, and students will not be able to continue an active application once the deadline has passed.

The IEEP Office looks forward to its continuing service to the University of Miami community, and we are excited about the positive effect that this new online system will have for students, faculty, and staff at the University.
