The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship educational and cultural exchange program. The Fulbright Scholar Program Grants support an individually designed study/research plan, artistic project or English Teaching Assistantship that will take place during one academic year in a country outside the U.S.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship enables outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a candidate’s intellectual ability, leadership capacity, and desire to apply talent and knowledge for the benefit of others by finding solutions to problems facing today’s world.

The Marshall Scholarships commemorate the humane ideals of the Marshall Plan and express the continuing gratitude of the British people to their Americancounterparts. Up to 40 Marshall Scholars are selected each year to study at the graduate level at a U.K. university in any field of study.

The George J. Mitchell Scholarships support one year of graduate study in any discipline offered by an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. The scholarship is intended to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership and commitment to public service and community.

The Rhodes Scholarship was initiated in 1902 to bring outstanding students from around the world to pursue graduate study at the University of Oxford. Candidates must be U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 and 24 from and hold a bachelor’s degree by October 2011.
