October 26, 2012 — (9:15 a.m.) The University of Miami administration continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Sandy. At this time, all classes, events, and clinical activities are operating on regular schedules. It is anticipated that operations will continue on normal schedules for the remainder of Friday, and this evening’s Miami Heat game, for which UM United Way supporters received tickets, will be played as scheduled.
Coastal areas are under a tropical storm warning, and inland areas of Southeast Florida are under a wind advisory. Locally we will continue to experience prolonged periods of 20- to 35-mile-per-hour winds and higher occasional gusts. Rain showers are likely throughout the day, with the possibility of occasional thunderstorms. The most severe weather is expected midday until sundown tonight.
Due to the weather we will experience, members of the University community are urged to allow extra time while driving and to exercise extra caution on the roads. When using Metrorail, stand at the center of platform, and follow all transit staff instructions.
Monitor local news for the latest information on current weather conditions.
