September 17, 2009 — Myles Brand was a courageous educator. He brought his high integrity and commitment to students to the NCAA presidency. He demanded that higher education substantially improve their academic standards and progress of student-athletes. He was a good friend and wonderful colleague. We will miss his leadership.
