Rosabeth Moss Kanter to Speak at UM

September 30, 2009 — Attend a special event with celebrated book author and Harvard University Professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter as she launches her newest book, Supercorp: How Vanguard Companies Create Innovation, Profits, Growth and Social Good. Kanter will speak to students, faculty and South Florida business leaders at the University of Miami School of Business Administration and participate in a reception and book signing.

Kanter will share her findings, as presented in her book, about how companies that project humanistic values and promote social good such as IBM, Proctor & Gamble, Cemex and Banco Real come out on top of their peers – especially in recessionary times. SuperCorp is based on three years of research and more than 350 interviews in 20 countries.

DATE: Friday, October 9, 2009
TIME: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
PLACE: Storer Auditorium, School of Business Administration, University of Miami, 5250 University Drive, Coral Gables, Fl 33146

Kanter’s previous book, Confidence: How Winning Streaks & Losing Streaks Begin & End (a New York Times business and #1 Business Week bestseller), describes the culture and dynamics of high-performance organizations as compared with those in decline, and shows how to lead turnarounds, whether in businesses, hospitals, schools, sports teams, community organizations, or countries.

Kanter holds the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professorship at Harvard Business School, where she specializes in strategy, innovation, and leadership for change. Her strategic and practical insights have guided leaders of large and small organizations worldwide for over 25 years, through teaching, writing, and direct consultation to major corporations and governments. The former Editor of Harvard Business Review (1989-1992), Kanter has been named to lists of the “50 most powerful women in the world” (Times of London). In 2001, she received the Academy of Management's Distinguished Career Award for her scholarly contributions to management knowledge, and in 2002 was named “Intelligent Community Visionary of the Year” by the World Teleport Association.
