The film, co-directed and co-produced by Renee Bergan and Mark Schuller, highlights the stories of five Haitian women and how their individual stories highlight globalization’ impact on Haitieir stories raise concerns over inhumane working/living conditions, violence, poverty, lack of education, and poor health care.
Each woman provides analysis on the current situation of Haiti, which is supported by Haitian NGO activists, government ministers, and scholars providing global, economic, and political context. Their accounts of inhumane treatment and images of the working conditions are contrasted with differing arguments from Haitian factory owners. The film, while providing both of these sides, gives a voice to the ongoing fight for justice in Haiti.
